My Aunt Traci held a little swim party for all of the grandkids as a last "hoo-rah" before Alexa had to go back home to Las Vegas. They had fun with the slip n' slide, water balloons, kickball, pools, and big water slide. They spent hours together, and loved every minute of it!

Grandpa Jack's 80th Birthday!

While out here in Utah, we celebrated my grandpa's 80th birthday! My aunt always throws awesome parties, and they are so much fun! This year was a cowboy theme. Some of the activities on the wagon train were: pony rides, a mechanical bull, panning for gold, roping steers, and a shooting range. The food was awesome. We ate prime rib, corn, baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw, pasta salad, fresh fruit, and corn bread all out of pie tins. My sister in law even made homemade root beer! To top it off, we all got a bar of gold to take home with us! Thanks Traci for such a fun party!

Last Day of Swim Lessons

This last Thursday was Easton's last day of swim lessons. We are a little sad, we've been having fun hanging out at the pool the past two weeks. He loved to dive for the rings and climb up on the life guard's chair!

Easton has a facination with anything that resembles a stick... brooms, mops, pencils, markers, crayons, and yes... even mascara tubes. I was getting ready the other morning and he took it out of my makeup bag. Little did I know, he can now twist off the cap. He then proceeded to put some on. He was pretty accurate too! Maybe if he had a mirror he would have actually got his lashes!

So it's been forever since we have blogged! Here's a little update on our family.... we moved to Morgantown, WV about 2 months ago. We are enjoying our new ward, and enjoying being close to Jason's family. Jason went from having over an hour commute, to now about 15 minutes. He's loving it! Easton and I are loving having him home at a decent time and enjoy having dinner with him every night! My mom moved to Farmington, Utah, and we really miss her! It was so fun being close to Grandma! We are going to visit her soon, and we can't wait! Easton and I are going to be there for 6 weeks! Jason will be able to make it for about 10 days. We will miss our daddy those other 5 weeks! We just barely got internet, so I'm going to have a blog overload.... here it goes!

This year was Easton's first Halloween! I had been looking forward to this day for a few months because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. With the recent passing of my dad, my morale has been a little down so it was hard to "celebrate". However, I got my butt in gear so I wouldn't regret Easton not being able to celebrate his first Halloween. On Friday night we went to a party at the church which was a lot of fun. (Thanks Chanie and Buck!) It included decorating sugar cookies, donuts, hot chocolate, a cake walk, streamers, and lots of cute costumes. On Saturday we went trick-or-treating with my brother Gabe and his little girl Mackenzie- his poor wife had to work. Easton was a dinosaur and CooCoo was Pebbles. It was a lot of fun, and really surprising how much candy 1 yr. olds can get!

Triple B Farm

A few weeks ago, we went to a local farm called Triple B to pick pumpkins and eat caramel apples. I had never been before, and never realized what an attraction this farm was. It reminded me of Roloff farm :) There was so much for kids to do... hay rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin & apple picking, slides, carnival games, pumpkin walk, and tons more. Easton was a little too small to appreciate everything, but he will definitely love it next year when he can participate in more things.

My dad as a baby

It's hard to believe it's almost been 2 weeks since my dad passed. For those of you who didn't know, my dad was in a car accident on October 1st. He sustained a lot of internal injuries which kept him in the ICU for 2 weeks. Just when we thought he was on the mend, his body took a turn for the worse. His intestines began to die, and he became septic. This ultimately led to multiple organ failure. He passed on Saturday October 17th at 11am. We held a viewing and funeral service here in PA, and then we went to Utah and held another funeral after which he was buried in the Hooper City cemetery. It's still hard to fathom that he's no longer with us. He was a great dad and a great grandpa. I'm sad that Easton won't be able to know his grandpa, but he resembles him a lot physically, so hopefully he will resemble him in many other ways as well. I'm so grateful for the knowledge that I can be with him once again, this blessing has been a great comfort to our family.

On Saturday, we went and took Easton to get his 9 month pictures taken. They turned out pretty cute, we had some family pictures taken as well. He also went to the doctor this week, and he now weighs 20 lbs. 11 oz. and is 28 1/2 inches tall. He's growing like crazy, and we sure love him!

Yes, yes, I am finally updating our blog! It seems like I have been so busy I haven't had the chance to update in a long time. Now that I am working part time, I seem to have found a little more time to do things that I enjoy!

A little update on our family...
Easton is 9 months old! He's getting so big! He goes to the doctor this week for his check up and shots. I'm guessing he weighs 21 pounds. I tried weighing him on the scale and it said he was 16 lbs. I'm pretty sure that's not accurate since he weighed 18 lbs. at his 6 month visit. (Since it's being a little forgiving on the pounds, I should hop on!) He's SOOO close to crawling. He babbles all the time and is constantly clapping his hands when we say "clap clap". He has said mama twice. Jason won't come to terms that he's said it, but we have witnesses. He loves books and his duck bath tub. He has his bottom two teeth in, and his top ones are coming in. It's funny because his front ones haven't broke through the gums yet, but his side ones have. He'll be our little pumpkin just in time for Halloween!

Jason is now working as the branch manager for PNC at their new Morgantown branch on WVU's campus. They are looking to expand in the near future, which will mean we will hardly ever see him! He works long days filled with long hours. We sure miss him when he's gone. Easton loves when his daddy walks through the door. He flaps his arms with such excitement that I'm convinced he's going to fly away one of these days. I just imagine him singing the primary song, "I'm so glad when daddy comes home...."

As for myself, I quit my job at H&M. It was really sad to leave, but I am now working MUCH closer to home, and part time. I'm still doing what I love, so I'm happy that I was able to find a job in my extremely narrow field. I'm the Enrichment counslor in the relief society presidency, and I get to work with my sister-in-law which has been fun! If anyone has any ideas, please let me know! Fresh ideas are always fun!

That's our life updated in a nutshell. I'm including some pictures from our trip to Utah this summer. We had a blast, and can't wait to go back for a visit! We're hoping in March!

Super Bowl Party

Last night we went to Grandma & Grandpa's house for a super bowl party! We had so much fun cheering on the Stillers! On Saturday we went to the Strip District in search of a Steeler's shirt for Easton. We came across a store devoted to just Steeler's garb. It was amazing at all the junk they had. The store was shoulder to shoulder of people. Even though I'm not a huge football or Steeler fan, it kinda made you get into the Steeler spirit! I was even tempted to get myself a shirt, instead I just wore Jason's sweatshirt. (As you can see by Jason's jersey... he's a die hard fan!) We had a great time being surrounded by great family and friends! Go Steeler's!

Last night Easton slept for 7 hours straight! That's a record in our household. First thing Jason said to me this morning was, "Is it just my imagination, or did Easton sleep for 7 hours?" I couldn't believe it myself. I woke up a couple of times in the night just to make sure he was still breathing. My body is just getting used to waking up every 3 hours! I think the key is having him sleep on his tummy. I know doctor's say not to, and maybe I'm a bad mom for doing it... but he seems to enjoy his sleep so much better, and that means I get to as well! After his long night, I put him in his crib for the first time to take his morning nap. He slept for a good 3 hours. I think tonight I'm going to put him in his crib for the whole night. Let's just keep our fingers crossed that he will sleep for another 7 hours!

We have had a fun past few days! Grandpa Child has been out of town, so we invited Grandma to come and stay with us. She got the nickname of the "Baby Whisperer" while she was here. She put Easton to sleep one night and he slept almost 6 hours! He's never done that for us! She was a champ! She would get up in the middle of the night with him, cuddle with him, change his diaper, feed him, sing to him, talk to him... basically she was the greatest grandma ever! She's a lot of fun to have around and makes a great shopping companion! We went to the grocery store, and she even sat down on some pallets and fed the little guy while I could get my shopping done. Even though she got puked on and peed on, she didn't seem to mind at all. I guess that's part of being a grandma! We sure love her and are grateful for everything that she does for us!

On the same night that Easton got his first haircut, he also took his first real bath in his little tub. He wasn't too keen on the cold backrest, but after he got used to it, he liked it!

So, Easton was growing a mullet. His hair was growing way down his neck so we decided that it was time for his first haircut. He's not even a month old yet, but we couldn't take the wild hair. I wish we would have gotten a good before picture, but here's all of the after pictures. He did really well. Jason just used the scissors, but next time he wants to take the clippers to it. We got tons and tons of blonde hair. I have a feeling he's going to be like his dad and need a haircut every 2 weeks!

Ok, ok, I know I have been a complete slacker in the blogging world lately. My mom keeps telling me that I need to update. So, now that things have settled down a little bit, and we're getting a routine down, I can make time to do this.

On December 23, 2008 our little Easton was born. We were originally scheduled for an induction on the 19th, however the hospital was full. We felt a little like Mary and Joseph getting turned away. So the next available time the doctor would do it was on the 23rd. We went in at 7am, and the doctor said I was dilated 4-5 cm already on my own. After that he broke my water and began the pitocin. It wasn't soon after that I was feeling rather uncomfortable with strong contractions. The doctor came back about an hour later and told me I was at 9 cm and to go ahead and get my epidural and start pushing. At that point Jason was in a little bit of shock/panic mode. I don't think he knew what to do because it all happened so quickly. Once I got my epidural, I had to wait for that to kick in. It only worked from about my hips down, so I was still feeling the contractions. As soon as I could, I started pushing. Luckily, that only lasted about a half hour, and then we had our baby! He was born at 10:22 am, weighing 6 lbs. 12 oz, and was 20 inches long.

We were so blessed to have a healthy baby and lots of family around to shower him with love. We are truly grateful to have such a great support system of close family and friends!

Most of you already know, but it's a boy! We have actually had 2 ultrasounds, on the first one the baby wasn't cooperating. The ultrasound technician couldn't get all of the measurements of his heart that she needed, so I had to go back 2 weeks later. Luckily, when I went back the technician took some 3-d pictures, which was really neat! It's so amazing what they can do! So here are a few pictures of our little guy...

Within our church we are advised to have a years supply of food storage and other necessities that you use on a daily basis. The reason for this being if a natural disaster were to occur, job loss, or any other devastating circumstances, you would not have to worry because you would be prepared. So slowly, we have started to build up our supply in the basement. A couple weekends ago we made a trip to Aldi and Sam's club to stock up some more. We feel like we are definitely on our way to our necessary supply. Some of our purchases included water, flour, sugar, pasta, applesauce, mac n' cheese, soup, corn, peaches, pears, tomato paste, spaghetti sauce, tuna fish, peanut butter, jelly, apple juice, oats, soap, bleach, napkins, oh yeah, and don't forget Jason's root beer. This is just one corner our our purchases, the other corner consisted of diapers, wipes, laundry soap, toothpaste, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, and paper towels. We started a list of a few more things that we will need, but we're almost there!

We had a very busy weekend! We started it off on Friday night by going to the Armstrong County Rodeo. It was a blast! It didn't nearly compare to the any of the Utah rodeos, but it was still fun! We never realized how many cowboys are around here. My highlight was having an elephant ear and kettle korn. Jason's highlight was when the biggest bull that we've ever seen chased down the rodeo clown. We think we will definitely make it a tradition to go every summer! Saturday was Rayna's first birthday. It was fun to be with all of the Schnopp family. All the kids had fun on a huge water slide that Brain set up in the backyard. We forgot to take the camera to the rodeo, but here's a few pictures of Rayna on her big day!

Dogman

This is a funny story, that I thought I just had to share. The other night Jason stayed up late and was watching tv. He turned it to the history channel, and they had a documentary on this wild "Dogman". He supposedly has been seen in Michigan. Anyways, being intrigued, Jason continued to watch the show. The more and more he watched, the more and more he got scared. He had a hard time going to bed that night because he was convinced that "Dogman" was on our front porch. So now every time the neighbors dogs bark I tell him "Dogman" must be out there. He doesn't think it's very funny. So if you ever want to tease Jason- just mention his pal the "Dogman".

Well since everyone else who we know has a family blog, I figured we better start one to too! We're new to this, so bare with us.
I guess this first entry could be a little catch up for everyone....For those of you who don't know, we are expecting a baby December 22nd. We find out in about 3 weeks what we are having. We're both crossing our fingers (and toes) that it's a boy, but we will take what we get :) We need to get working on converting our office/Jason's closet/exercise room into the baby's room. I'm anxious to get the crib up, it looked so pretty in the store!
We recently just moved about 2 months ago to be closer to work for both Jason and I. We were both making about an hour commute into the city, so we decided with gas prices it would be wiser to move closer. We live in a little town outside of the city called Oakmont. We love it! It reminds me a lot of Princeton, NJ. It's a very quiet and quaint community that is well maintained. There are trees and flowers everywhere! We love to go on walks at night, the only bad thing is the icecream shop that we pass by every time we go. It's so very tempting! All in all, we love our new place, but we do miss living closer to family.
